The home has a pleasing sense of history but uplifting décor of fresh paints and pale woods. There are claw-foot baths, four open fires (most notably in the grand entrance hall) and a combination of antique furnishings with contemporary touches. The bedrooms all have huge wooden beds and flat screen TVs and your group will be well entertained with films, books and games.
The house and its setting could have stepped out of a Jane Austen novel. You and your friends can sit at a table out on the grass and enjoy timeless views of buttercup meadows, ancient trees and meandering waters along the Valley. It’s an easy drive to Stamford as well as to various outdoor activities at Rutland Water. There are flat-screen TVs in the bedrooms, a very large flat screen TV/Wii Fii in the Drawing Room, and lots of DVDs, books and games. The property is close to the famous old towns of Stamford, Oakham and Uppingham, all offering interesting days out and good restaurants. Sights in the area included Burghley House (home of the Burghley Horse Trials), Belvoir Castle and Barnsdale Gardens.
Rutland Water is a popular centre for bird watching, sailing, fly fishing, windsurfing, cycling, Rok Blok climbing and nature reserves. The Stamford Shakespeare Festival is during the summer months of 2008. There are also two golf courses nearby at Rutland Water and Greetham Valley.
Nearby within 2 minutes walking distance is a friendly local serving good quality meals, a handy fallback when you don’t feel like cooking.
