“Villa Lipari” is owned by an Aristocratic Family from Marsala. The entire villa reflects the splendor and history of past centuries.
The home is on two floors and it’s furnished beautifully to a very high standard.
You’ll enter the house from the huge Covered Terrace in the rear of the house that’s been equipped with lovely Garden
Furniture for Outdoor Living.
Hundred Year Old Palm Trees and an Orange Orchard are part of the landscape and seem perfectly suited here.
Marsala's origins are ancient. In the 8th c. BC Phoenicians founded the city of Mozia (Motya) in the nearby Stagnone Lagoon. Subsequently, refugees from Motya fled from invasion and destruction by Dionysius I of Syracuse. It became an important Carthaginian Military Base.
After falling under Roman Domination there followed the Vandals of Gaiseric and then the Byzantines.
Finally it came under Muslims control and they called it Marsa-Allah or the Port of Allah. The town prospered considerably in the Middle Ages as an important trade center.
The Normans conquered Marsala in 1072, rebuilt the Byzantine
Castle and constructed Churches and Convents. In the 18th c. some enterprising Englishmen set up the first establishment that produced Marsala Wine, which was to have considerable impact on the local economy.
On the West Side of the Marsala Coast, you’ll find beautiful Beaches, wonderful restaurants and Water Sports. On the East Side of the Coast, you’ll find the Natural Reserve of the Stagnone Islands with beautiful scenery.
A few miles away are the salt works and quirky Windmills of Marsala and the Landing Platform for Mozia Island.
The Egadi Islands are not far from Marsala.
The main attraction of these islands are their crystal clear waters (especially Cala Rossa in Favignana), the Splendid
Mountain and Coastal Walking and Hiking and the overall “laid back” atmosphere of Island Life.
