Villedieu is a typically Provencal village, perched on a hillside with shops, restaurants and a post office. Nearby Vaison-la-Romaine has two centres; a romantic medieval town perched high on the rocks overlooking its modern sister, full of bustling cafés, chic boutiques and small shops selling local handicraft and mouth-watering regional agricultural products.
This is the Vaucluse region of Provence, spanning from the Luberon to the Dentelles de Montmirail, renowned for its fine wines but also popular with ramblers, cyclists and horse riders. There are theatre shows and musical concerts held in the Roman amphitheatre in Orange. Mont Ventoux, the highest peak in Provence, is only 20 minutes away and the gothic palace at Avignon should not be missed.

The Caretaker lives in the Bergerie - she has a dog. There may be horses in the field next to the tennis court.
